Upcoming Armoury, Secretariat and Referee Training and Evaluations sticky icon

The Ontario Fencing Association is pleased to announce that there will be training and/or evaluation workshops for secretariat and armourers at the upcoming 2010 Senior and Team Provincial Championships in Kingston this March. There will also be opportunities to take written and practical referee evaluations for those who have attended a workshop. To register, or for more information, please contact info@fencingontario.ca

There are also training workshops for referees, secretariat and armourers taking place in Ottawa on Februray 27th and 28th. Details and registration are available here.

Sous-plastrons

The sous-plastron is the protective clothing worn under the fencing jacket. It adds an additional layer of protection to the chest, shoulder and upper arm facing the opponent. Some sous-plastrons offer neck protection as well. Sous-plastrons offer more than another layer of protection. They also block against blades entering weak seams in the external jacket as they, by design, cannot have seams in the same location.

Sports Officials Canada Conference

Calling all Ontario Provincial, National or International Level fencing referees:

The Delta Meadowvale Conference Centre in Mississauga will be the site of the Sports Officials Canada Conference: Conflict and Consensus: the Boundaries of Officiating on the weekend of September 24 to Sept. 27, 2009,

Ontario Officials will receive a special rate for this conference and the OFA is pleased to support our officials by offering to subsidize the full conference fee for the first four officials who send in their registration forms.
