Our History

The Ontario Fencing Association was incorporated as a Not-for Profit organization in April 1979.

The founders were:

  • Robert Samuel Foxcroft
  • Robert David Chambers
  • Erika Josephine Langer
  • John Mitchell
  • John Peter Makela
  • John Ernest Buchner

There are records of fencing in Ontario from before 1926. Previous to incorporation the organization was known as the Ontario Fencers’ Association and  the name change  was a contentious subject at many AGMs.

We are creating an archival history of fencing in Ontario. If any of you have documents from the “olden days” or stories to tell, please contact Laurence Bishop.
