Updated Elite Team Rankings for Y14 and Cadet
These are the final rankings before selection to the Ontario Summer Games. Selections will be made April 15, 2010 and will be posted on this site. Final selection will be confirmed and personal notification sent after the Appeal Period has ended., April 30, 2010. The Appeal process will be attached to posting of OSG Selection. Appeals will only be accepted on the grounds that there is a mistake in the rankings or that the OFA did not follow the Selection Process. For rankings see here

Ontario Athletes at World Championships in Azerbaijan
Three Ontario athletes attended the Cadet Junior World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. All three competed in Cadet , while Eleanor Harvey qualified for Junior as well. She competed in Women’s Foil: Ilyas Khamis and Alex Lyssov competed in Cadet Men’s Epee.
Alex Lyssov made the top sixteen in Cadet Men's Epee., the top result at this World Championships from a Canadian in Cadet. It was the first time at a World Championships for all three fencers. The three qualified for the team by making a national standard of Cadet Team or higher.
Lexan Masks
Following the findings of a recent investigation by the FIE (see attached report), and their subsequent decision regarding the use of lexan masks (which are now permitted only for Sabre competitions), the Ontario Fencing Association is announcing that effective imemdiately (10/2/10), lexan masks are prohibited from use at all sanctioned Foil and Epee competitions in Ontario.

Ontario Card Athletes Announced
The Ontario Fencing Association would like to thank and congratulate the talented athletes who have been nominated for Ontario Cards under the 2009-2010 Quest for Gold Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the sport specific selection criteria developed by the Ontario Fencing Association, approved by its Board of Directors, and applied by the Ontario Fencing High Performance Committee.
The Ontario Fencing Association congratulates these athletes on their successful performance and on their nominations for Quest for Gold OAAP funding.
2009-10 Ontario Summer Games Program
Update: Jan. 10, 2010: The selection date for the Ontario Summer Games Program will be April 15, 2010, so that the OTT JYC competition points can be counted.

2009-2010 Quest For Gold Program
The Quest for Gold Program was established to provide additional support to athletes from Ontario and to increase the performance and number of Ontario athletes competing at the highest national and international levels, thereby contributing to the improved performance of Canada at international competitions.
