Call for Applications: OFA HPDP Weapons Coordinators

High Performance Development Program

Weapon Coordinators

Positions: HPDP Weapon Coordinators x 3

Disciplines: Foil, Epee, Sabre

General Program Mandate:

To create and foster a system of fencing training and development building Ontario athletes to possess the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to eventually become successful members of the CFF Senior National Teams.

To organize, plan, and administer a series of training camps for the HPD Program, across the province of Ontario, in all three disciplines of fencing; foil, epee and sabre.

To ensure a developmental pathway for athletes in Ontario, respecting LTAD, and linking to the CFF High Performance programs for national team programs.

To ensure open communication between the OFA and all Ontario Fencing Clubs, including Head Coaches and Assistant coaches, regarding the HPDP fencing pathway.

Job Skills:

Possess project management skills.

Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with English being a priority, French an asset, as well as other languages.

Possess active current knowledge of the LTAD plan for fencing as published by the CFF in foil, epee or sabre.

Possess troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

To communicate effectively with fencing clubs, athletes, and coaches across the province.

Key Task(s):

Plan training camp projects:

  • 1 separate training camp for each weapon for the season 2017-2018. To be coordinated with the HPDP coordinator.
  • 1 training camp with all three weapons for the season 2017-2018. To be coordinated with all three weapon coordinators and the HPDP coordinator.

Manage the communications about the HPDP between the members, their coaches, and the OFA (thought the HPDP coordinator).

Salary:

Each weapon coordinator will receive a total of $1200. $700 will be paid after the submission of the report after their weapon specific training camp. $500 will be paid after the submission of the report after the three-weapons training camp.

All planning, communication, report writing, and training camp attendance is included in the salary.

Transport to (and from) the training camps and accommodation will be arranged or reimbursed by the OFA. Transport and accommodation are not included in the salary.

Please send your resume, qualifications, experience, any other relevant information, with a short description why you would be a good fit for the position to the HPDP coordinator (max_bc@fencingontario.ca) before January 1st2018. Specify which weapon you are applying for (epee and/or foil and/or sabre). Please note that each selected person will fill only one role. The OFA will contact the selected people and announce the three weapon coordinators by January 7th 2018. No submission will be considered after the deadline.
