Licensing
All participants are required to have an active Competitive or Recreational CFF/OFA Fencing License or an equivalent license from the participant’s home federation. All Canadian fencers are expected to hold a Canadianlicense,. You may purchase/renew your license via the Canadian Fencing Federation website in real time.
Age Categories
Competition age categories will be enforced according to the CFF Age Category Definitions. Fencers must be at most 10, 12, or 14 years of age as of December 31, 2017 to participate in the U11, U13, U15 events, respectively. Please refer to the CFF Age Category specifications.
Competition Format
One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination tableau.
Technical Information
The Ontario Youth Provincial Championships is sanctioned by the Ontario Fencing Association and Canadian Fencing Federation.
This competition will be run according to current FIE regulations. The Directoire Technique reserves the right to apply or modify these regulations as they see fit as according to section t.15 of the FIE Rules.
U15 events will be submitted to CFF for Domestic ranking purposes. U13 and U11 events are JFF (Just For Fun) and results will not be submitted for any ranking purposes.
All fencers are required to wear a sous plastron and fencing pants with long socks so that the legs are fully protected. Track pants will not be permitted as substitutions for fencing pants.
All female fencers are required to wear a chest protector under their sous-plastron.
All foil fencers participating in the U15 and U13 events are required to have a conductive foil bib. Conductive bibs are not required for U11 foil event participants.
Size 0 or 2 blades are required for the U11 events.
In the case of less than six participants in one gender of the U15 event, the event will become a mixed event, with mixed poules and an open mixed tableau. A separate women’s tableau will also be fenced.
In the case of less than five participants in one gender of the U13 or U11 events, the event will become a mixed event, with mixed poules and an open mixed tableau. A separate women’s tableau will also be fenced.
Participants that enter in multiple events may be required to fence multiple bouts without breaks. Should conflicts arise, participants may be asked to withdraw from an event.
