The 2022 Ontario Fencing Youth Championships will be taking place June 25-26, 2022
What you need to know:
- The following competition will be organized on June 26 and consists of four levels: U9, U11, U13 and U15. Please note that the U15 Epee event will take place on June 25.
- These events will teach athletes at a young age the expectations and decorum of competition fencing.
- The U13 and U15 will be separated into men and women events resulting in 4 events in total.
- The U11 and U9 will be mixed up resulting in 2 events in total.
- The format of the competition will be one round of pools with 100 per cent promotion. All competitors will be expected to know the rules of their specific events.
- Medals will be awarded to the four top spots of the event and ribbons for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place.
- No fencing for third place.

Note – Blades
U9 – size 0 – 2 blades required for Epee and Foil / Sabre – Plastic Sabre (provided by organizers)
U11 – size 0-2 blades required
U13 – no special rules regarding the maximum blade length
U15 – no special rules regarding the maximum blade length
OFA will work on a pilot project for the U9 category with the implementation of the use of the plastic Sabre for the U9 tournament. Athletes under the age of 9 will have a weapon adapted to their level of practice, in connection with the Long-Term Athlete Development. This will allow them to have a much more fun and also less risk of injury.
