Announcement: Ontario Winter Games Qualification

The 2022 Ontario Winter Games will be held on February 27 to March 6, 2022 in Renfrew County, Ontario.  This year, 96 athletes will be competing in competing in 6 events, for a total of 16 athletes per event.

Date: March 3-6, 2022
Location (updated):
Opeongo High School
Address:1990 Cobden Rd, Douglas, ON K0J 1S0
Categories: U15 (Born 2007 or later)
Minimum age: Athlete must be 12 years old by the date of the Games (March 3, 2022)

Events:
Individual: U15MF, U15WF, U15WE, U15ME, U15MS, U15WS

Athletes do not need to be enrolled in the Youth Development Program to qualify for the Ontario Winter Games.  However, fully-registered YDP athletes ($500 fully paid by December 15, 2021) are able to register for OWG qualifier competitions free of charge.

Exclusions: The OFA has determined that, as in previous years, the goal of the 2022 Ontario Winter Games is to encourage athletes to pursue higher level competition. As such any athlete who has represented Canada internationally at a European circuit, World Cup, Pan-Am Championships or World Championships will be excluded from competing at the OWG, as they are already competing at a much higher level.

Qualification Competitions:

The following is a list of OWG qualifying competitions as of November 11th, 2021.  Other locations as well as current unknown dates for listed events will be added as the OFA and host clubs finalize details.  Coaches and athletes are encouraged to check back here for updates.

The OFA is working with local clubs to ensure that each region has at least two OWG qualification competitions for all weapons. However, all eligible athletes can register for any competition in any region, and are not limited to the competitions in their home region.

Please visit the Ontario Winter Games and OWG Selection Criteria page for more information.
