Dear Members,
To follow up on the events of last weekend (postponement of the two OWG events, and the YDP camp) and given the rapidly changing health situation in Ontario, we would like to communicate the following additional information.
We would like to apologize to the athletes, referees, officials, and parents who were affected by the very late postponements and communications from last weekend.
I met with the OFA medical committee and some board members this week. Given the current uncertainty surrounding Omicron and the new government restrictions, we are recommending that all events be postpone until the end of January. It will give us time to monitor the news coming from the provincial government. A new meeting will be held after holidays break to evaluate the situation at that time.
We would like to stress again that the situation and regulations are changing quickly. Unfortunately, we are not getting any advance notice or communications from the our ministry Sport representatives. We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation. Our priority is to do everything we can to keep everyone safe, while continuing to practice our sport where possible.
