Event summary
The OFA Circuit Youth #2 is the second event of the season.
The format of the Youth competitions
The U11 and U9 will be mixed up resulting in 2 events in total.
The format of the competition will be one round of pools (8 fencers or +) with 100% promotion. Advancement into Direct Elimination will be ranked on the results from the pools.
OFA rankings will be used for pools seeding.
Pool bout in 5 points / D.E bout in 8 points for U9 and 10 points for U11.
The results will count in the OFA rankings.
U13 and U15 events with greater than six (6) competitors will be separated by gender.
The format of the competition will be one round of pools with 100% promotion.
Advancement into Direct Elimination will be ranked on the results from the pools.
OFA rankings will be used for pools seeding.
Pool bout in 5 points / D.E bout in 15 points.
The results will count in the OFA rankings.
The format of the Cadet competitions
Seeding into pools of 6 or 7 will be based first upon HPP rankings and OFA rankings for Cadet, Junior and Senior categories.
OFA rankings will be used for athletes not registered with the CFF HPP, with adjustments to be made only by the Directoire Technique (DT) based upon exceptional circumstances (e.g. former national team member without a ranking, foreign fencers). In cases where pools of 6 or 7 are not possible, the DT will determine the most practicable format, while ensuring to optimize competition.
All events will have one round of pools, with all participants promoted. Any events above 64 registrants may have an imposed cut of between 10-20% if necessary to ensure projected finish times, however, at least 64 fencers will be promoted if there are more than 64 competitors. In cases where cuts will be necessary, an announcement and posting will be made before the start of the event. Advancement into Direct Elimination will be ranked on the results from the pools in accordance with FIE rules.
Events are planned as separate events but may be combined if there are fewer than 6 registrants in one gender. If combined, both a combined and separate women’s DE will be held. Should the events occur on separate days, participants of the later event will be notified no later than 7 days before the event and given the option of combining with the other gendered event, or a refund of event fees.
Medals will be awarded to the four top spots of the event.
No fencing for third place.
The results will count in the OFA rankings.
