2016 WORLD VETERANS FENCING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The FIE sanctioned World Veterans Championships will be held in Stralsund, Germany, October 10 to October 16, 2016. All three weapons will be fenced in three age categories, 50?59, 60-69 and 70+ for both men and women. The age categories are as of the competitor’s age on September 1, 2016.
Each country may submit a team composed of up to four fencers per category. An example of a category is “women’s sabre, 50?59”. The entry fee is 55 Euros per participant per weapon fenced.
TEAM COMPETITION:
- Teams will fence men and women all weapons. Teams will be made up one fencer per age group, (total age 180).
- Any prospective competitor unfamiliar with the quality of fencing should be aware that the great majority of competitors are active fencers in their respective countries, many of which hold regular veteran tournaments. A medical certificate attesting to the participant’s fitness to compete is required to be presented at the time of accreditation.

All fencers must have a valid CFF licence and a valid FIE licence. To be considered for selection one must send by e?mail an expression of interest by Aug. 10th, 2016, a list of the number of fencers representing Canada must be submitted to organizers by Sept. 12, 2016. No other fencers will be considered for selection after this deadline. The final team selection will be made as follows:
If 4 (or fewer fencers) have expressed an interest in any category, all fencers will be selected to compete in that category.
If more than 4 fencers have expressed an interest in any category, the top 4 ranked fencers (by cumulative points) using the Veterans Ranking System in the respective weapon will be selected.
List of individual Fencers representing Canada must be submitted by Sept. 12th, 2016
Final team composition will be announced after Sept. 1st, 2016.
The CFF will sanction and register the team with the tournament organisers but all team members are responsible for their own travel, Visa and hotel arrangements. They are also responsible for all costs associated with participating in this event.
The Veterans Committee of the CFF together with the Referees Committee of the CFF will cover the costs of referees.
All equipment must comply with all FIE rules, transparent masks will NOT be allowed. Conductive bibs will be REQUIRED for Foil.

Participation:
Four Fencers per weapon per age group per gender.
If there are more than four, top four qualifiers will be considered.
Age Groups:
50-59, 60-69, 70+ (80+ Demonstration)
Team Event:
Teams will consist of one fencer per age group + one alternate, alternate must fence in his/her age group. 5 hit bouts 2 per age group, team seeding according to individual placement.

Registration:
At the venue; Passport, Doctor’s letter, E55.00 per weapon.
Doctor’s letter should state: (“The above patient is fit to fence”, nothing more)
Referees:
- 1-4 fencers (not required)
- 5-9 1 referee (or E1000.00 penalty)
- 10 2 referees
- Payable by Canadian team official at registration at the venue.
Equipment:
- Full FIE, CEN 1
- Foil: Conductive mask bibs
- Foil and Epee NO transparent masks.
- Name and Nationality on Lames, Jackets
- Stencilled and or Embroidered in 8.5 cm Dark blue lettering (for epee patch with info may be had provided it is on white material and is sewn all around firmly) No safety pins, staples, nails, tape, rivets or glue.
- No wire slit on gloves.

Uniforms: Canadian Warm up suits (CFF crest on chest CANADA on back)
Canadian Colours:
2 on both legs, 1 on non fencing arm. Firmly sewn all around. May be purchased at CFF Boutique (CFF web site)
Team Registration: The entire Canadian team will be registered with the organizers by CFF.
Payments:
Organizers in the past did not take credit cards, make sure you have in CASH registration E55.00. Your credit card is good for everything else at the venue or elsewhere.
Doping:
There may be doping test for medalists, if you are on medication and confident to medal, take list of medication from your Doctor.

Ranking points system applied for selection of Canadian team to World Championships (four fencers per weapon per age group per gender) and/or other tournaments where qualification is required.
Total points considered will be derived from two North America Cups, Can/Am Veterans Cup, Canadian Nationals, Eastern/Western/Canada Cups/Provincials results and Canadian Veterans Domestic ranking points. Fencers should also have participated in at least one point gathering LOCAL competition (excluding Can/Am Veterans Cup) Previous placement at World Championships will also be considered.
