The Kingston Fencing Club is pleased to host a one day training camp/seminar with Rossana Pasquino, a member of the Italian National Wheelchair team. The camp will take place at the Kingston Fencing Club located at 83 Terry Fox Drive, Unit #4, Kingston, on Saturday August 18th from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. All levels of fencers are encouraged to come and spar with Rossana.
As a fencer, 35 year old chemical engineer and Associate Professor at the Universita degli Studi de Napoli Federico II in Italy, Rossana is relatively new to the sport of wheelchair fencing. Although she has been in a wheelchair since 9 years of age due to a spinal injury she was first introduced to the sport in 2015 by her good friend Francesca Boscarelli (currently one of the best epee fencers in Italy).
As a Category B wheelchair fencer Rossana has won many medals in both epee and sabre. Dr. Pasquino is looking forward to September as she is she should be invited to fence in the European Championships for both epee and sabre. In November she will start her quest for Olympic qualification for the Toyko 2020 Games.
The cost of the training session is $25.00 which includes a BBQ. Please RSVP by August 12th, 2018 if interested in participating in this unique fencing opportunity. For more information or to register contact Henk Pardoel, Head Coach, at info@kingstonfencingclub.ca.
A regulation wheelchair frame and seats will be used courtesy of Jon Holtz (Excelsior Fencing Club).
